Energy Efficiency & Weatherization Upgrades
The Weatherization Program helps reduce the heating and cooling costs in an effort to reduce energy consumption and increase comfort in eligible participant homes.
Income requirements for the Weatherization Program were recently increased and are now at 200% of the federal poverty level. LIHEAP applications also automatically serve as an application for Weatherization assistance.
The Weatherization Program provides energy efficiency-related home maintenance assistance to low-income homeowners and renters. Available Weatherization benefits include the installation of insulation, furnace repair or replacement, water heater repair and/or replacement, safety checks for gas leaks, and/or replacement of old refrigerators and freezers.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for weatherization services if:
- You qualify for LIHEAP. This is why it’s important for you to apply for energy assistance as soon as possible.
- Your dwelling/apartment has not been weatherized before.
- Your household meets certain priorities that may include a high energy burden or use, an elderly or disabled member or a child under six.
