Maquoketa Municipal Electric Utility prides itself in providing reliable electric service to its customers.†Thatís why we are upgrading our electric distribution system from 4,160 Volts to 12,470 Volts.†This includes the removal of two existing substations, and the upgrade of our Allen Street substation at an estimated cost of $2,100,000.


Additionally, we have 13 generators to provide emergency service large enough to carry our total electrical load.†MMEUís total generating capacity is 27,200kW, of which 21,650kW is designated Accredited Capacity by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO).† Of the 13 generators 7 are fired by diesel fuel, and 6 are duel fuel natural gas and diesel.
